If you love getting the sand between your toes, the beach on Cabanas Island is gorgeous and is part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve
From April to October you can take a 2 minute boat ride for 1.30 euros return which makes you feel like Robinson Crusoe landing on your own private island! There is a cafe, showers, lifeguarded area all rebuilt in 2009
The jetty is less then 5 minutes walk from the apartment
If you are more a swimming pool kind of holidaymaker, then there are 4 pools with gardens gates for security good for children

6km East of Tavira past the golf course at Benamor lies Cabanas, with a kernel of backstreets made up of pretty fishermen's houses and a line of low rise shops, cafes and Bars facing a picturesque river estuary.
It is a quiet resort perfect for relaxing, drinking and eating great food, cacthing some sun on the beach or at the pool

Quinta da Ria amd Quinta da Cima are both 5 minutes drive away and are both 19 hole par 72 courses.
Quinta da Ria ia inside the Ria Formosa national park and goes right down to the sea
Quinta da Cima is built around a series of lakes and streams
Monte Rei is a recent addition the first greens opened in 2007 an American style course and club and designed by Jack Nicklaus. It includes the Academy. This is about 20 minutes drive away towards the border and up in the hills
Castro Marim is also about 20 minutes drive and overlooks the Spanish border
Quinta do Vale was designed by the late great Seve Ballesteros and again overlooks the Spanish border at the River Guadiana so about 20 minutes away
